Epson apparently doesn't make printers any more. According to the latest flyer I just received, they now make "Serial Impact Dot Matrix Imaging Devices" and "Serial Non-Impact Imaging Devices." Hot dog.
            ===============================================
IBM is shutting down its Ambra line.
            ===============================================
Haven't got your Pentium yet? Better hurry - the Pentium's replacement (Sextium? Code name P6) will be available in sample quantities in a few months.
            ===============================================
IBM has ported the OS/2 Workplace Shell over to Windows, but they claim they're not going to sell it as a product.
            ===============================================
GE recently demonstrated their new high-temperature ICs. Instead of silicon or gallium arsenide, the new ICs are made of silicon carbide. What's silicon carbide? You're probably more familiar with it in crystalline form, bonded to paper or cloth as "sandpaper." The first applications for the new ICs will be in sensors to monitor combustion in gas turbines.

IBM is shutting down its disk drive factory in San Jose and moving it to Asia. RIP.
            ===============================================
Intel is discontinuing its popular faxmodem line. They've decided to concentrate on developing fax/data/video modems. What's a video modem? Apparently only Intel knows, but it's such a hot idea they've dumped a profitable business right down the tubes in their excitement.
            ===============================================
Microsoft is trying to persuade hardware vendors to add three extra "Windows" keys to their keyboards. Five years ago they couldn't even get clonemakers to put the SysReq key back, and MS-OS2 had to do without.
            ===============================================
IBM is advertising IBM CAD/3X. It runs under DOS 3.3 + 1Mb or OS/2 1.3 + 6Mb or higher, 2D only. The price is interesting: $99. Credit card orders only, 800-426-2231 ext. 56.
            ===============================================
Intel has dropped the qty. 1000 prices of their chips some. 66MHz Pentium $525, 60 MHz Pentium $418, 50MHz 486DX2 $204, 40MHz 486DX2 $204, 33MHz 486DX $204. Notice no prices are even listed for the 50 and 66MHz standard DX chips.
            ===============================================
Hewlett-Packard is now shipping a 17" flat screen monitor, only 2" thick. Unfortunately it's stuck up on a tall stand like IBM's E-series flat screen (why do manufacturers DO this? Do they think everyone wants to pray to the damned thing?) and it costs a mere $10,090. =============================================== IBM may port Microsoft's Chicago - Windows 4.0 - to the PowerPC line.
