This shot shows exactly how short the 229 V6 is. Of course, the engine bay was designed to take the 250 straight six, but there's still a lot of room up front. You can see the driver's side lower frame brace in this shot. I got them from a Cutlass. They had to be shimmed down to clear the F-body front sway bar. There's also a "Pontiac bar" or "F-41" bar running crosswise under the radiator, and a bolt-in X-brace in front of the radiator itself. The braces don't weigh much, and I figured they'd be useful with the stiffer springs and bars.
